| The first step would be to take apart the phone and find the part number of the camera module, from that you can locate the data sheet. However, I will warn you. The camera module doesn't do it's own processing so you will need to have a board able to do basic DSP operations. If you are doing this to save money, I would look elsewhere as you are almost certainly going to have to have PCB boards made and assembled. If you are not set up to make your own boards is likely to cost around $500-600 in parts and supplies and take 30-50 hours of your time. That said if you are doing this as a fun project and want to continue knowing the cost. Update your answer with the model number of the Camera and I will do my best to help you. |

The nutshell of that answer is yes, the prosecutor could use the tape to prosecute someone for abuse - but only if the person who recorded the abuse was willing to testify. (Anonymously submitted tapes are not admitted as evidence. The person who made the recording has to testify to authenticate the tape.) The consent, or lack thereof from the facility is irrelevant. However, as I mentioned the last time I answered this question: It is illegal to record someone without their knowledge/consent in many states. So, although you could use this tape as evidence against an abuser - it could also result in your arrest and prosecution for having the spy cam in the room in the first place. (And ALL of the people who were illegally recorded could have a civil law suit against you.) | Interesting question. Frankly, it would probably depend on the laws of the state. In my state, it would be criminal conduct to place a secret camera that took an audio recording in a room that you know is not private. If the footage is illegally obtained it could not be used in civil litigation. It MIGHT be used in criminal prosecution, but it would be vulnerable to attacks by a defense attorney. (And if it was illegally obtained, you would be risking arrest and prosecution. You could not submit it anonymously and have it be used as evidence in any court.) If you want to put a camera in her room, speak with the manager and put a camera in her room. But be open and notorious about it. |
